Therapy is not only two chairs and a box of tissues anymore. Some of the fastest-growing approaches involve paint, your nervous system, your eyes, or a walk around the block. Here are five worth knowing.

1. Art therapy

You draw how the week felt, then talk about what ended up on the page. No skill required, and the art stays private. Great when the feeling is there but the words are not.

2. Somatic therapy

Stress lives in the body: the tight chest, the clenched jaw. Somatic work uses breath, grounding, and gentle movement to help it settle. For people who understand their problems and still feel stuck.

3. EMDR

You hold a hard memory in mind while your therapist guides your eyes back and forth. The memory stays, its grip loosens. Built for trauma, and you never have to narrate the details.

4. Internal Family Systems

Part of you wants to rest, part of you wants to grind, part of you is judging both. IFS treats those parts as real and worth listening to. Surprisingly gentle, even with heavy material.

5. Walk-and-talk therapy

Same session, side by side on a path instead of face to face in a room. Moving settles the nervous system, and it is easier to open up when nobody is staring at you. Works by phone, too.

Which one?

Notice where you get stuck. No words: art or somatic. One memory on repeat: EMDR. At war with yourself: IFS. Cannot sit still: walk. Tell us on your onboarding call and we will match you to a therapist who fits. Not every approach is offered by every therapist, so ask.

Curious which approach fits you?
